Sean ‘Just Jack’ Hayes Comes Out
Sean Hayes, who spent years playing one of the most flamboyant characters on TV, has come out to The Advocate. Surprised? Hardly. But there are straight men who pull off gay characters — like Sean’s Will & Grace costar Eric McCormack — so it wasn’t a total foregone conclusion. However, according to the article, Sean’s sexuality was an “open secret in Hollywood,” although he never officially confirmed it. At the time, his refusal to be interviewed by The Advocate ruffled the feathers of its editors.
Now, as he prepares to make his Broadway debut in Promises, Promises, Sean tells the gay publication, “I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never.”
