1. Everyone has a “thing.” What’s yours?
Energy — I have tons and tons of it. I’m also fully obsessed with yoga and love to cook (although my boyfriend would argue that this love does not equate to skill)
2. Everyone also has a karaoke song. Name yours (and don’t be shy).
I am potentially the worst singer in America. I vote they launch reverse American Idol for people like me just to laugh at the lack of talent…!
3. What’s your backstory?
I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, was a diver in high school, went to Harvard College, and moved to New York after graduation. I was lucky enough to get a job in finance but it blew my mind that I had never had one course on personal finance. Later, ended up at Harvard Business School only to drop out (I took a 5 year leave of absence) to launch a website called LearnVest to help people with their personal finances. Now I am back in NYC.
4. Who are your biggest influences?
My mom, who is my best friend in the world, my brothers (Travis and Brandon) and finally, most recently, Richard Branson. I read his autobiography last year when I left business school to launch LearnVest and it really inspired me. Four weeks ago, I met him on his private island, Necker, and he tried to get me to jump off a 50 foot cliff into the ocean. He’s nuts. He’s got so much courage; I just really admire him.
5. What is it you most dislike?
The fact that personal finance isn’t taught in schools. It’s crazy to me! We make 8-10 financial decisions a day, yet no one educates us on this topic!
6. Whose job would you like to steal?
Oprah.
7. What was your best date?
My boyfriend and I have the most fun just ordering in and hanging out…It’s my absolute favorite thing to do!
8. What was your worst?
I’m not sure if this is a date but it was definitely something to remember. When my boyfriend and I first started dating, as an attempt to “win” me over, as a joke, he had “2,000″ Dunkin Donuts Munchkins delivered to the trading floor I was working on. No joke. It took five guys to carry them to my desk. I had only been working there for a few months and was absolutely mortified…
Hmm…We’re still dating though, so I guess it worked!
9. When I wake up in the middle of the night its because I’ve had a nightmare that I’m ___ .
I have the most vivid dreams!! It’s insane — I dream in color, remember them fully, and often my dreams even reference OTHER dreams that I have had weeks before…It’s like movies in my head. I often wake up and think “whoa…”
10. I feel my best when I’m wearing ___ .
My 4″ purple pumps.
11. Please settle the debate: New York or LA?
Easy, New York. My family, friends, and LearnVest are all here!
12. What’s on your playlist at this very moment?
Because of my brother Brandon, TiK ToK by Ke$ha, Vampire Weekend’s “Cousins”, and Pickups’s “Panic Switch”
13. What are you watching on TV?
House because 1. Hugh Laurie (!) and 2. I’ve always been fascinated by medicine. I’m also a fan of Glee, Idol, Gossip Girl…
14. If you alone held the power to pick a boyfriend for Jennifer Aniston, who would you pick?
Definitely Robert Pattinson. Age is nothing but a number.
15. Given the chance, would you rather hang out with George Clooney or Robert Downey Jr.?
George Clooney. I’m a sucker for a man in a tux.
16. If you were a character on any movie or TV show, past or present, who would you be?
Diane Sawyer.
17. What is your drug of choice?
Caffeine!
18. What’s the last thing you think about before falling asleep at night?
Since it’s typically 2am+, did I set my alarm???
